Get Ready For Summer Nights On The Bocce Court

If you are interested in having some summer fun and meeting new folks from the Chagrin Valley you may be interested in organizing a team to play bocce throughout the summer. Whether you know how to play or have never thrown a ball you are welcome to sign up as an individual ( that will be organized as a team) or as a team of 4 or more members. This is a social league and many participants last year had never played or played only as a child.

Can you throw a small ball? You can play Bocce. Any age or athletic skill level can play Bocce. Bocce balls are provided.

During the summer and fall of 2016 The Village of Bentleyville Community Park at 36020 Solon Rd, which features a Bocce Ball court was a center of activity and fun as over a hundred people who participated in a Bocce Ball league on the newly completed court.

This year the league is being organized to begin Bocce play in June. The newly renovated court surface will make this year’s play even more fun and competitive. There was so much interest this past year that a group of folks from the Village of Chagrin Falls has asked that a court be built in the village. The Village plans to construct a court this summer that will significantly increase the number of teams that can participate in the league. Having 2 courts in close proximity will allow for home and away games while having a chance to play more teams.

The teams will rotate courts and play 1 evening a week. Teams participants are required to be 18 and over or children can play if accompanied by an adult team member.  The cost to participate is $10.00 per player with proceeds being provided for court maintenance and picnic.

If you are interested in learning more about Bocce Ball or would like to sign up to participate in the league you can attend The Spring Cheerful Hour on Friday May 19 at the Bentleyville Community Park at Solon Rd. from 6-9pm. The Cheerful Hour would be an ideal opportunity to learn about the league, view a Bocce Ball game demonstration and sign up if you would like to play.

You can also learn more about the league by emailing our Court Marshalls, Patti Widmar or Angie DeBernardo at chagrinvalleybocce@gmail.com.
